May 26, 2007,  The King's Academy Receives Honors from ACSI

The King's Academy participated in various students events this year through the Association of Christian Schools International. Earlier this year the students participated in the Creative Writing Festival, sending 10 poems, essays and short stories written by students in grades 4 through 8. The students did very well and it was a great experience for them.

After holding our own Art Show, we sent 9 pieces on to the ACSI Art Festival in Anderson. Two students, Hannah and Marika Wormgoor (grades 6 and 8), received a superior rating and won Best of Show for their photographs, placing second and third of the top 4 scores overall.

The junior high science class held a Science Fair here at The King's Academy, sending the top four entries on to the ACSI Science Fair held at Indiana Wesleyan University this year. All four that were sent (made by Rebekah Miner (grade 7), Valena Caviggiola (grade 8), Davis Meadors (grade 8), and Josh Kiers (grade 8)) received superior ratings at the fair and Kiers' exhibit won the Judge's Choice award.

Finally, the Algebra I class participated in the Midwest Regional ACSI Math League competition, finishing first place in the region (a nine state area) with Josh Kiers also finishing first individually. The whole class (17 students) recently took the National ACSI Math League test for Algebra I. Although our school did not place in the top three schools, Josh Kiers was the only participant to achieve a perfect score in three of the four tests.

The students and teachers have enjoyed participating in the various ACSI activities this year. They have been great experiences for the students and for the school.
